Biography
An Upper School history teacher since 1994, and at St. Matthew's Parish School since 2005, Mr. Macías likes to say that he “teaches life. History is just the story I use to make the point.” Beyond the classroom, Mr. Macías coaches and coordinates the flag football program, coaches basketball, co-directs the eighth grade Shakespeare elective in the second semester of each year, and is one of several staff photographers on campus. In addition to his academic and athletic responsibilities, Mr. Macías has been an active participant in St. Matthew’s international outreach programs, chaperoning student service programs to both Belize and Haiti in recent years, as well as chaperoning the eighth grade on their annual sojourn to the East Coast.
Away from St. Matthew’s, Mr. Macías is a published poet who has recently produced and been featured in readings around Southern California, as well as a professional portrait and event photographer. He currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife and two children, both of whom are alumni of St. Matthew’s.
