Biography

Clara loves to learn and teach languages. She believes we can all learn languages as long as we are using the language for real communication and focusing on the message more than on the form. Stories lie at the foundation of her curriculum and are used as a springboard for learning grammar and vocabulary. Students are highly involved in class; movement is essential to retain the meaning of the words, as are images and real objects. Clara was born and raised in Colombia where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Education with a minor in Literature. She graduated with a MA in Spanish Linguistics from University of Southern California where she trained on Second Language Acquisition and Teaching.  Clara previously taught at Marlborough School and Wildwood School. She loves to hike, cook, and watch excellent movies.
