Lower School Curriculum
The Lower School learning environment is both challenging and nurturing, placing a strong emphasis on academics as well as building character and learning through service to others. Children develop curiosity, work collaboratively with others, find joy in learning and solving problems, and express creativity and ingenuity. The curriculum is anchored in a set of essential questions that focus on students’ relationship to self and others, culture, and community. Foundational skills in Reading, Language Arts, and Mathematics, are taught explicitly to build capacity to acquire knowledge, think critically, and communicate understanding in multiple ways. The curriculum is further enhanced by integrated specialist classes in Science, Art, Library, Innovation, Music, and Physical Education.
