Message from the Head of School

Welcome to St. Matthew’s Parish School!
Whether you are stepping onto our campus for the first time or exploring our school from afar, we are so glad you are here. My hope is that as you learn about St. Matthew’s, you begin to see the warm, collaborative, and vibrant community that awaits your family.
I offer that perspective with deep conviction, not just as Head of School, but as a St. Matthew’s alumna and current parent. St. Matthew’s has been a defining part of my life since I was three years old. Long before I walked these halls as an educator, I experienced firsthand the magic of a school defined not just by its beautiful grounds, but by its unshakable spirit, faith, and heart.
Our motto, Serve, Lead, Flourish, is not just a phrase on a website or magazine; it is the lived experience of every St. Matthew’s student. It is what inspired me to pursue a life of service with Teach for America, gave me the academic foundation to pursue graduate studies at Harvard, and instilled the confidence to step forward as an educational leader and eventually, Head of School. Public speaking, creative problem-solving, intellectual rigor, and empathy are the gifts built brick by brick through a St. Matthew’s education.
Today, it is the honor of a lifetime to serve and lead this remarkable institution. Every day, our extraordinary faculty and staff dedicate themselves to ensuring that every student is deeply known, intentionally challenged, and genuinely celebrated.
We know that when a school and a family walk hand in hand, children do not just succeed, they flourish. We look forward to helping your child write the next chapter of theirs.
Warmly,
Alexandra “Alley” Michaelson ’02
Head of School
