Theater PRogram
Our comprehensive curriculum offers students a unique opportunity to explore their artistic talents, develop their skills, and perform on stage. In Lower School, Performing Arts is woven into their core curriculum. Students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade complete their year-long unit of study with a performance for the whole school. Students in Grades 3-5 can participate in our After School Musical Theater Program, honing their skills and creating boundless theatrical experiences and memories. Each year, all of our Middle School students participate in a Spring Musical, with our 8th Graders leading the production both on stage and behind the scenes.
Lower School
Kindergarten Friendship Play
The Kindergarten class presents annual Friendship Plays featuring two delightful performances that celebrate the joy of friendship. Each play, inspired by beloved children’s books, brings to life heartwarming stories that highlight the power of kindness, teamwork, and connection.
After School Musical Theater
Our After School Musical Program runs in the fall and spring, offering Lower School students a chance to explore the world of theater through performance. Recent productions have included adaptations of popular musicals like “Frozen Kids” and “Annie Kids”, specifically tailored for elementary-aged performers. This program, which involves students in Grades 3 through 5, fosters creativity, teamwork, and self-confidence. Each session culminates in a final performance for family and friends, where the joy and enthusiasm of the students shine through in every song and scene.
Middle School
Arts Rotation
In 6th Grade, students take courses in theater and expressive movement. 7th Grade students participate in an arts rotation that affords them the opportunity to study theater, filmmaking, maker art, and studio art. Once the Spring Musical concludes, our 8th Grade students participate in an arts rotation, including ceramics, theater, culinary arts, and filmmaking.
Spring Musical
The Spring Musical is a cherished annual tradition that involves the entire middle school. The 8th graders take on a leadership role, while students from 5th to 7th Grade enrich the production through engaging ensemble performances.

Lower School Music
The Lower School Music Program at St. Matthew’s Parish School is designed to foster a love for music and develop foundational music skills in our students. Our curriculum is comprehensive, integrating singing and instrument playing, and movement to create a rich and engaging musical experience for every child. We aim to create a vibrant and inclusive environment where every student can explore and enjoy music. Through a balanced mix of activities, students gain valuable skills and experiences that will enrich their lives both inside and outside the classroom.
Middle School Instrumental & Choral Program
Our 5th and 6th Grade Instrumental Music Program provides students with joyful, engaging musical experiences to help develop each student’s ability to become lifelong music makers and informed music listeners. Students are involved in lessons and activities that focus on active music-making, which allows students to explore the language of music. In addition to music classes, Middle School students are also part of a weekly repertoire based Chorus or Band program. Throughout the year, students benefit from the guidance and expertise of a team of talented and dedicated music teachers, who provide invaluable support and inspiration in every class.
Lower School & Middle School Holiday Program
St. Matthew’s annual Holiday Program brings together both our Lower and Middle School students in celebration of the joy of the holiday season through music and performance. The Lower School program showcases the vibrant talents of our Kindergarten through 4th Grade students with festive songs and lively performances that capture the warmth and spirit of the season. The Middle School program features impressive student musicians, including holiday band performances highlighting the incredible skill and creativity of our 5th through 8th grade students. Together, these performances create a heartwarming celebration that unites families, friends, and the entire school community in the spirit of the holidays.
