St. Matthew’s Celebrates Back-to-Back Athletic Championships
May 07, 2026
St. Matthew’s Parish School’s middle school athletics program is celebrating a standout spring season after both the Falcons Golf Team and Tennis Team captured Pacific Basin League championship titles. At an age when many schools are just introducing students to organized sports, student-athletes in Grades 4-8 at St. Matthew’s are already learning what it means to compete with skill, character, and heart.
Following a stellar boys soccer championship win this past winter, the School’s spring season success story began with a major victory on the golf course, where the Falcons secured the B Division Championship at Heroes Golf Course. Led by their coaches, Zak Zukoski and Jimmy Cinnamo, the team of sixth through eighth grade students delivered a season defined not only by strong scores but by perseverance, teamwork, and steady growth. The Falcons consistently pushed one another to improve throughout the season, embracing both the technical and mental aspects of the game.
The Falcons Tennis Team added another title to the Pacific Palisades school’s list of athletic accomplishments just a few days later. The co-ed team of sixth through eighth grade students entered the playoffs undefeated and determined to defend last year’s championship title. Under the guidance of their coaches, Sydney Streimer and Megen O’Keefe, the team remained poised under pressure throughout the postseason. The team went on to win the Pacific Basin League B Division Championship at Rustic Canyon Recreation Center, securing back-to-back league titles and cementing the Falcons as one of the league’s premier middle school programs.
“These championships reflect more than athletic success. They highlight the strength of an athletics program designed to build confidence, leadership, teamwork, and resilience beginning at a young age,” says Rahim Muhammad, Director of Athletics for St. Matthew’s. “Every single student-athlete brought their A-game this season. Their grit, unity, selflessness, and support for one another truly defined these championship teams.”
For the Falcons, the season’s victories not only represent championship banners but the culmination of a school culture that values effort, integrity, and community as much as the final score. To learn more about St. Matthew’s Age 2 through 8th grade program, visit stmatthewsschool.com.
