St. Matthew’s Parish School Commemorates 75 Years!
December 16, 2024
St. Matthew’s Parish School kicked off its 75th anniversary with a momentous ribbon-cutting ceremony, heralding the inauguration of the School’s new state-of-the-art athletics scoreboard. The moment marked a significant enhancement for Falcon Athletics, reflecting the School’s commitment to both tradition and progress.
The 75th year celebration began on Blue-White Day, an annual St. Matthew’s tradition that builds school spirit through a spirited day of healthy athletic competition for all students to participate. Blue-White Day is an occasion of boundless Falcon spirit, with our beloved mascot, Freddie the Falcon, energizing the sidelines throughout the day’s festivities. Adding to the excitement of celebrating our 75th year, St. Matthew’s welcomed a special guest: Marty, a real-life Lanner falcon.
To make the anniversary even more meaningful, the ceremony was led by our Head of School Alley Michaelson, a 2002 alumna who returned to her roots in Pacific Palisades in 2023. Her leadership symbolizes a connection to the School’s rich history and its promising future. During the event, Mrs. Michaelson expressed her optimism, stating, “From now until next year’s Blue-White Day, we will honor the rich history of St. Matthew’s Parish School while eagerly anticipating our bright future. This milestone year is an opportunity for our entire community to come together and celebrate.”
The 75th anniversary celebrations continue throughout this school year with activities planned to honor the School’s history and bring the community together. This milestone year offers a chance for reflection and celebration, highlighting St. Matthew’s enduring legacy and commitment to providing a dynamic educational environment.
